I’ll show you where to go
So I wrote a poem…At the end of 2023, there were tears and lots of questions…about me and about God. Who had I become? What was I doing? Where was I? Where was He? Had I messed it all up? So many questions with very few answers! And then one night, as I lay there once again, these words came flooding out of my mouth and then onto the page.
For anyone who has ever questioned their choice to step out on the edge and jump into the unknown, this is for you.
I’ll show you where to go
They say the heart wants what it wants, I’m sure all that is true,
But how do I choose what path to take when mine is torn in two.
The promise of the things to come, the truth of here and now,
It's a battle of the inbetween, and I wonder in the how.
My longing for the One I know, Creator of it all,
Who formed me before the world began and will not let me fall.
It battles against all I see: the chaos and the storm,
I try to keep my head above as the waves around me form.
And so I fix my eyes on Him, although I want to run,
He’s the only one who has the view of all that is to come.
I open wide my tired arms, let go of all held dear,
And lift my eyes to see the One, who is standing oh so near.
With eyes of love and a smile so big, he whispers in my ear,
Let go my love, take hold my hand, relinquish all your fear.
But Lord, I’m scared of things above and looking way down low,
I can’t go back, I can’t stay here. I’m tired, don't you know.
Oh Pioneer, as you come near, to hear my heart beat so,
I'll lead you on, I’II guide the way, I’ll show you where to go.
It's scary now I know for you, and that may never change,
But know this one thing also, dear, I’ve comfort in exchange.
The tears that fall on those dark nights, you cry without a sound,
Produce sweet oil as they fall deep below the ground.
The breaking open of your soul, for all the world to see,
Will bring its weight in pure gold, if you'll just trust in me.
For you have chosen the higher path and left the world below,
So come my dear and follow me, I'll show you where to go.
My love for you is oh so pure, a love that can't be bought,
Though few have dared to go this far, you have pursued and sought.
You have walked the narrow road, gone against the tide,
And as you’ve chosen the lesser path, I choose you, my bride.
So come with me, and I'll lead the way under the stars so bright,
And I will show you a world though dark, will only bring delight.
Into the night that’s full of life, into the waking hours,
My love for you will never fail; it is your greatest power.
The paths before you, precious one, are really not a choice,
All you need to do, my dear, is listen for my voice.
Let it lead you on and on, across the great divide
And as I do, I promise you, I'll send Redemption’s light.
For it has barely come to pass, It's only just begun,
Remember, I'll always catch you. Now come with me, let's run.
